Runes - anyone?

Are you thinking "oh my God" she's lost it! Trust me, I have not lost it. Few people today have heard of the word "Runes", followers of J. J Tolkien might. It is an ancient alphabetical script, with each letter possessing a meaningful name as well as a signifying sound. Runes were employed for legal documents, for writing poetry, for inscriptions and divination, yet never evolved as a spoken language.

I have adopted "consulting the oracle" as they call it - to help direct my attention. But let me share, there are times when I need a little direction and you select a Rune (it's a tile with a letter) upside down or reversed - not usually a good sign. Today I selected a rune that is a straight vertical line - can not be reversed - the gist of this rune is "submit and be still, for what you are experiencing is not necessarily the result of your actions or habits, but rather rises from conditions about which you can do nothing. What has been full must empty, what has increased must decrease. To surrender is to display courage and wisdom."

Alright, what do I do with that direction!

I will tell you, there are times that things just take a life of their own. Strength for Life is there right now. Debbie and I have certainly put it out there, but it is being received in abundance. Thank you Lord - I have been reminded to say, we are grateful for the support we are receiving, the interest that has been stirred and the possibilities that are ahead.

It is so "not the norm" that someone approaches us, we feel "shameless" lately, (our new mantra), but Darren Neuberger has been following our path for sometime and has shown an interest in promoting Strength for Life in Canada. Darren Neuberger is a cancer survivor with a background in fitness. Please read his bio from facebook:

Darren Neuberger is a man on a mission. Mr.Neuberger was diagnosed with acute leukemia on August 5, 2003 and after 2 years straight of treatment , which entailed 5 months as an inpatient in the hospital, over 600 chemo treatments, 2 weeks of brain radiation, 1 ALL INCLUSIVE trip to I.C.U. and over 17 units of blood, Darren is coming up 3 years post treatment and still showing no evidence of disease! Mr. Neuberger's speeches are not only motivational, inspiring and positive, he also has a knack for showing a side to cancer that most will not associate to the disease, and that is humor. Darren came face to face with his mortality at the young age of 34 and his passion and mission is to let others know that we can overcome obstacles and when life throws us lemons, we can turn it into wine!!

National, International - the possibilities are endless! Just sit a be quite and allow it to happen - that possibility is very difficult. But we, Strength for Life, have the conviction and the faith to allow it take the course it may - for the moment.

Debbie and I know that what we offer is special to cancer patients and survivors, and we know that what we receive is the greatest gift - seeing the organization grow to help countless others (as Evelyn did). But our joy is meeting each individual and listening to their story and seeing their growth and strength prevail.

Long winded? Sorry - I am sitting, submitting and being still - aren't I.

Thank you for reading our blog - for supporting our cause and for spreading the word! When you, all, have done that work - I can really sit and be still!
